The Gospels tell the greatest story ever told. But when we read these books, there are many things the authors have left out. Movies like The Passion of the Christ and Jesus of Nazareth show us some of the actions and scenery from this story, but there is still so much more to be explored.
In this first person account, we hear the Gospels as told from the perspective of Jesus himself. While some might see it as impossible or sacrilegious, Michael Gabriele handles this in a masterful way. The actions and thoughts of Jesus flow directly from the scenes portrayed, and they are completely believable to those familiar with the Bible. Jesus makes it very clear to the reader that His whole life is directed toward doing the will of the Father out of love for humanity.
It would be impossible to share everything from the Gospels in a work of fiction, so some of the parables and stories have been left out. A significant portion of the text is devoted to Holy Week, and reading it during the Lenten and Easter seasons is a powerful and moving experience. This beautiful novel makes it very clear to the reader just how much Jesus loves each and every one of us.
If you’re looking for a book that brings the Gospels to life in a new and exciting way, I highly recommend In the Flesh – My Story.
